Helping you manage your sciatica
What is it?
6 x 30 minute seated and mat based Pilates programme delivered live online via zoom.
This six week course is designed to improve the signs and symptoms of sciatica. It aims to lengthen and stretch tight muscles and irritated nerves. To strengthen the muscles that support the back including the abdominals. To gently mobilise and lengthen the spine. Through increased mobility and stronger muscles it also aims to improve quality of life and reduce pain levels.
The course is progressive, week one starts very basic and from there each week the exercises are gradually built up. With one contact session per week, access to the sciatica care programme cards and access to the VFJ Pilates How To... instructional videos you have the tools to repeat each session again at a time and date that suits you.
What do I need?
Online on demand - The class will be entirely seated or lying so you need space to lie down and a sturdy chair without arms. A mat if you have it but it's not essential. A yoga strap, belt or scarf. A yoga block or small firm cushion.
Please make sure you have consulted with your doctor prior to participating in any form of exercise, have a safe space to exercise in and are well enough to complete the session.
Who is it for?
This course is ideal for anyone experiencing sciatic pain regardless of the root cause of the pain. Anyone with stiffness, tightness or weakness in their back. Anyone wanting to improve core strength and posture. Anyone wanting to move more, exercise and de-stress.
Who is it not for?
Anyone who has any condition that is prohibitive to exercise without prior medical authorisation.
