Ever wondered if it’s normal to wobble, squeak, or question your limbs in Pilates? If you have come looking for answers you are in the right place.
1. Will I make strange noises, and is that allowed?
Yes. There might be grunts, sighs, or accidental snorts during roll-downs. It is all part of the charm. No judgment here, just breathe and carry on.
2. Is it normal to feel like a confused jellyfish?
Absolutely. Flailing limbs are part of the learning curve. Eventually, your body will figure out which arm is left and which leg is doing something entirely different. Until then, embrace your inner jellyfish.
3. Will I ever stop wobbling during balance work?
Maybe. But honestly, we all wobble sometimes. That is why we call it practice. The occasional teeter makes you relatable, and your muscles are still working, even if your dignity wobbles with you.
4. Why do my legs shake when I’m lying down and not even moving?
Because Pilates is sneaky. You think you are relaxing, but your muscles are quietly panicking. Shaky legs are basically your body's way of saying, “Oh, so that muscle exists?!”
5. Am I going to be sore in weird places?
Yes. Places you didn’t even know could feel sore. Like the muscles behind your knees, or under your ribs. But it is a satisfying sort of sore, the kind that tells you your glutes actually showed up to class.
Pilates is serious about movement, but that doesn’t mean we have to take ourselves too seriously while doing it.
Wishing you laughter and limbs that surprise you,
Victoria xx
