It is not quite winter anymore, but it is not spring yet either.
The days are longer, but the air still bites. There are snowdrops by the wall and daffodils in the shops, but I am still wrapped in layers and craving hot drinks.
These in-between days are strange. I want to burst into energy, but I feel slow. I get glimmers of motivation, followed by stretches of nothing. I think about clearing out the house or starting something fresh, but mostly I just want to sit in the sun, if I can find it.
I used to feel guilty about this. Like I should be shaking off winter by now. But I have learned that this liminal season has its own rhythm. A soft wake-up, not a sudden leap.
So I am easing in. One drawer at a time. One walk. One new recipe. Some days are still full of fog, but others feel light enough to carry. That is enough.
Some mornings, I still need the extra blanket. Some evenings, I still light the candle and turn in early. And yet, there is a shift. Not quite blooming, but no longer dormant either.
Growth does not always look like action. Sometimes it looks like rest. Or waiting. Or sitting quietly with a cup of tea, knowing something is shifting even if you cannot see it yet.
I am learning to celebrate the subtle things: the first day without a coat, the return of birdsong, the windows opened just a crack. These are the soft signs of change.
Wherever you are in your own season - still, stretching, or ready to bloom - there is no rush. Spring will come. And so will you.
