You can't miss it...
Moustaches everywhere...but what is the point and what does it actually mean?
Movember is all about creating awareness of men's health. Amongst other things they focus on topics such as male cancers, mental health and suicide prevention.
According to the Movember foundation:
Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons.
It is their mission to bring awareness to these unspoken subjects to change the narrative that men should not speak out about their health problems and that checking themselves isn't manly. They promote self-examination, early detection and education around all these topics and they do this by making the narrative fun and easy to communicate - grow a moustache in November.
If you don't want to, or can't, grow a moustache there are other ways to join in - Move for November is about doing '60km for the 60 men lost to suicide each hour across the world'. They have an app through which you can connect your preferred fitness app track your 60km and your sponsorship money once you've done that you can 'lace up and hit the road'. But before you do that remember move means just that, move, according to the Movember Foundation's website 'run, walk, sprint, strut – how you Move through your 60km is up to you'. Lastly hosting a 'Mo-ment', basically any kind of get together that takes your fancy to help raise money and awareness, and doing it your own way is also an option and again monies raised can be tracked through the app.
So when did you last check yourself...
